Sam Edelman Petty Booties VS Dolce Vita Cassidy Booties

 Ever since I picked up a pair of tan suede booties (on a whim since they were on sale for $20!) I realized I needed a pair in black also. I really wanted to find one before I left for my trip to Arizona so I ended up ordering the Sam Edelman Petty Bootie and the DV by Dolce Vita Cassidy Bootie both in black suede.

 I originally thought I would like the Dolce Vita ones better since the style more closely resembles the current booties that I have. Plus I had seen these in person before ordering them online though I had never gotten the chance to actually try them on. I had seen someone else do so and they looked great on her. The main issues I had with DV booties were with the shaft. While the bottom of the shoes were really sturdy and thick the shaft was so flimsy in comparison. It's a slip on style with no additional zippers. My current inexpensive booties are also like that but even they feel more robust compared to these. It almost seemed like after continuous wear they might start to tear. On top of that the shaft opening was just too big for me. While it would have looked better with tucked in pants, I wanted the option of being able to wear them bare legged for the summer. Additionally the suede had more of a worn-in texture that I didn't prefer.

 The Sam Edelman booties on the other hand pleasantly surprised me. Even though the style looked different than what I wanted I liked these better. These felt sturdy all the way around. They cut off at a more flattering part of the leg so that it was possible to wear them bare legged, and on top of that they had a zipper opening on the sides to make it easier to put on/off. I thought the different colored sole/heel would make it too casual but (depending on the outfit) I'm able to wear these to work as well. I will admit these were not comfortable right off the bat. They did feel a bit stiff, and still do to a point now. I've gotten used to them though and highly recommend them. I probably wouldn't wear these if I knew I would be walking around outside a ton, but I did end up wearing them to a cavern tour and my feet felt fine. (Though it does make decently loud heel noises so I wouldn't wear them again to the caves if I had a choice...it was a spur of the moment decision to go).

Almost Spring Wishlist

I think the fact that I have a trip coming up has actually gotten me excited about looking into new items to add to my closet. And once I get into one of these moods it's hard to stop. I mean, just the other day I made an Amazon order, a Loft order, and am pretty close to making a J.Crew one after obtaining a 30% off coupon code.

Here a couple things that I've only thought about buying but haven't (yet).
1. Dolce by Dolce and Gabbana Perfume. I normally try to avoid the pushy sales ladies on the department store floors, but one managed to hand me a sample of this and go into a spiel about how it was new and had some exotic flower in the ingredients. I decided to smell it just to be polite, and FELL IN LOVE. I know, that's pretty dramatic. But I'm picky about perfumes and have been using the same one for five years now. I picked up the smallest spray possible on Sephora (since it is quite expensive), but I've gone through more than half of it now. I think it's time to invest in the next size up.
2. Ray Ban Eyeglasses (RB5228 in Brown/Pink). I normally wear contacts but wear my glasses whenever I'm at home since my eyes tend to get pretty dry (typical asian female yo). I've never found any frames I like enough to consider wearing them out and about, but I tried these on and they just worked on my face shape. It's been almost a year since I discovered them and think it's time to invest. (Though with the amount I'm working at the surgery office I don't know how practical that's going to be. I mean it's a little weird to be working in a LASIK center and be wearing GLASSES).
3. Kitten Espadrilles. I need a pair of warm weather shoes that aren't sandals and these look comfy enough to wear out and about without being sneakers. (Though I still love my black Nikes to death).
4. Lexi Round Sunglasses. While I love the whole round sunglasses trend, I just know they won't work on me (*tear). These still have round lenses while the frames give the illusion that they actually have a slight cat eye shape.
5. Gold Apple MacBook. Okay this is more about the fact that it's GOLD. I mean, look how pretty that is. But I really couldn't live with just one port. And anyone who says they can is lying.
6. DV by Dolce Vita Cassidy Boot. A flat, black pair of ankle boots have been on my wishlist forever but I've never found a pair that I've liked. I honestly just wanted something simple and comfortable that could be worn with a variety of different outfits. These qualities were a lot harder than I thought it was to find. I tried these on at the store around Christmas time last year, but ended up buying another pair of shoes on my list (finally checked off a pair of tall brown leather boots). I'm tempted to order these before my trip and just switch between these and my flat tan suede booties...
7. Get It Together Pencil Pouch. I know Ban.do's planner with this saying is super popular but this pencil pouch appealed to me more (and it's in stock!). I like that it's flat and could even be used as a small makeup bag.
8. Tonal Windowpane Scarf. I've realized that I really like this windowpane pattern that's becoming popular. One of the items in my most recent Loft order is actually a blouse with a black and white windowpane pattern (will share if I end up liking it). I like how the pattern on this scarf is more subtle though and still lightweight enough to wear in this almost-spring-weather.

Summer Time Wishlist

As gloomy as the weather has been, it hasn't thwarted me from fantasizing about things I want for the summer. Even though yesterday called for my leather boots and cargo jacket, I've already been ordering warmer weather pieces such as the heart-shaped sunglasses above. This summer is definitely all about easy, flowy pieces with pops of color and print.

Steve Madden Shelbi Wedge Sandals

I recently purchased these sandals thanks to my mom. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have given these a second look. We were both at DSW looking at shoes for fun (though I was looking for some Luella-like wedges in particular) when my mom pointed these out to me. Honestly I was surprised that she even thought they were nice! They definitely reminded me a bit of Christian Louboutin's Miss Fortune Platform Sandals (often seen on Kim Kardashian). Not something I originally was interested in, but after trying them on I liked them more than I thought I would. Plus I didn't have any nude sandals so I ended up purchasing them. (You can still find them here, though my color is no longer available). I'll definitely try to post some photos of them on when I can!

Stress-free

I've currently been obsessing over soft, neutral colors and vintage-looking jewelry. This weekend will be the perfect time for me to search for some of these and relax after my Friday midterm. (Can you believe it's almost the end of January?)

I can't get you out of my head

I've kind of been in an obsessive shopping mood lately, but (thankfully) I have curbed my cravings and have only purchased a few items that I actually need. Though impulse purchases have been to a minimum, my I-want-to-get-this-eventually list has been growing longer!

• There are so many lace-up booties out there, but these in particular caught my eye. Not too crazy and the perfect heel height.
• I didn't realize how hard it would be to find a relatively inexpensive, but simple quilted chain bag. Everything's either overpriced or plain ugly. But this one is the perfect all around.
• Usually palettes don't interest me, but the Urban Decay Naked Palette has been getting so many good reviews it's hard not to want it.
• I don't know if it's blatantly obvious by now, but I have this about rings and knuckle/armor rings in general. I thought I would get over this one by now, but I can't stop visiting the site to stare at it! (It doesn't help the Free People catalog arrived yesterday and it was featured on practically every page).
• I love Nicole Richie's Winter Kate collection, and this cardigan is my absolute favorite.
• Out of all the Mulberry for Target bags, this one caught my eye right away. Perfect for carrying around all the junk I need throughout the day.

You're hot then you're cold

I always tell myself I'll buy rainboots when we start approaching this kind of weather, but so far it hasn't actually happened. I'm all for rainy days as long as I'm inside, snuggled up in a blanket reading a book, but it's those days when I have to go to class that I despise them. Thankfully it stopped pouring early this morning, but I've told myself I would finally purchase a pair of rainboots this year instead of suffering with wet feet (one of the most unpleasant feelings).

Going CR crazy

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed a few weeks ago that Charlotte Russe had vamped up their website. It's easier to navigate and, I don't know if it's just me, but the products themselves seem better too. I've already added a ton of things to my wishlist to check out the next time I go visit the store.

• I'm actually surprised I don't own any snake jewelry yet since I've always loved how bohemian they look.
• Inexpensive, nude strappy heels are a staple I've been meaning to add to my wardrobe.
• I've been obsessing over lace everythings, and this dress is no exception.
• A unique bracelet cuff that gets the mixing metals aspect right.
• What I like about these black clogs are that they aren't very clog-y at all.
• A quilted bag that's been toned down with fabric is great for everyday.
• Another textured gold ring that caught my eye. (Guilty).
• While I'm typically not a big tights fan, these lacy ones are just too pretty pass up.

Too many gorgeous wedges

I'm so excited that wedges are back "in" since I'm horrible in heels 99% of the time. I can wear the highest wedges and be able to walk around without spraining my ankle. Although wedges sometimes have the misconception of being "clunky" I can't see anything but fabulousness (is that even a word?) in these wedges that I'm currently coveting. (PS: I would have included the Cynthia Vincent for Target Cognac wedges in here, but I feel like I've been over-obsessing about them. I do still want them but they're sold out everywhere in California).

Coveting Cynthia Vincent Target Wedges

I've been dying to get my hands on these Cynthia Vincent Gladiator Wedges for Target. I've been coveting her Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Luella Wedges (seen below on Vanessa Hudgens and Amanda Bynes) ever since I laid my eyes on them. But for around $400 it was totally out of my price range. So I gave up that notion, until the greatest thing ever happened: Target collaborated with her to get these amazing $30 gladiator wedges that look just as nice as the originals! I can't believe they're already sold out though! And the nearest Target from me is an hour away. Sigh. Maybe I will try to make the trip next weekend?

Midterm week and rain....

Here's my procrastination coming back again...I have two midterms tomorrow! It always seems like I do my best procrastinating when I'm the most stressed. And I just checked the weather and it appears that it's going to rain again?! What is wrong with the weather these past couple of weeks? Saturday was rainy, then today was sunny, and tomorrow it's going to start raining again. It's like one day I'm in sandals and the next I'm busting out my rainboots again.

On a happier note, I finally received my order of flats from Footzyrolls! I don't know how many of you have heard of them, but I saw an ad for them in a magazine and was intrigued. They took forever to ship, but I'm pretty happy with them. I'm thinking of doing a review soon if anyone's interested in that. I'll definitely have to see how they work after a long night of wearing heels (since that is their intended use after all). And did I mention how excited I am for the three day weekend coming up? Yes, I know I did. But I'm excited for sushi!

Always and Forever 21

I was recently on the Forever 21 website, and I always like to look at their "Shop by Outfit" section. There were four outfits which I loved how they were put together. It honestly made me want to buy each item of clothing from head to toe! I especially love the chunky magenta cardigan, the plaid romper (though usually I hate rompers), the long sweater, the sequined vest, and the Fifi Lapin sweater shirt. I've actually ordered a few things online...will share once they arrive.

A Little Bit Excessive

I always get into one of those moods where I really want to go shopping, but usually I don't have the means to. One of the best ways to get rid of it is to make a wishlist of all the things I want so I can grab them up the next time I can go shopping. Probably not wedding appropiate

Seeing that I have a wedding to go to tomorrow, I decided I needed less "fierce" shoes and more of a classic, quiet pair. Even though it's the wedding reception and not the actual wedding, I thought some open-toed platforms would be more acceptable. (Plus they're way easier to walk in). But of course, I can't walk into anywhere without something else catching my eye.

I've been itching for a pair of leopard print ballet flats since forever, but I couldn't find any that fit all of my critera. (Simple, affordable, and comfortable). And these $16.99 Fiona Ballet Flats did just that. I literally wanted to slip them on and run out the door with them! Unfortunately I didn't get to purchase these since they didn't have my size in the store I was in (darn! And they were having a buy one get the second one half off sale too). But I am so rushing to the downtown store on Sunday.

I am having the worst cravings for some hot peep-toe/cut out shoes. I'm more of a sandal girl during the summer so I don't know why I'm suddenly itching to order myself a pair online right this instant. I do need to restrain myself seeing I need to leave whatever precious credit I have on my card to take out the fam who is visiting me tomorrow. Yes, I'm such a good daughter I know. Let's just hope my mom never finds out about my major shopping addiction.

My Forever Search for Flats

I'm sure almost all of you have heard of Tory Burch's famous flats with her very obvious gold logo. When I first saw these in magazines I didn't hate them like most people did, but I didn't exactly like them either. Honestly, I just kept thinking, what's the big deal? Of course that was a few years ago. I went downtown yesterday for some window shopping (which of course ended up in some real shopping, though to me, a purchase of a pair of aviators don't really count). I wandered into Nordstorms and had to look over all the amazing shoes I couldn't buy. I sat down in a chair to try on a pair of super high wedges, when I looked over at the seat next to me and there was the right foot shoe of the Tory Burch "Reva" ballerina flat. So for the hell of it, I tried it on.

And wow, I have never in my life experienced flats as comfortable as the one I had just slipped on. I suddenly realized what the craze was about. Just to clarify, I rarely ever wear flats. I honestly don't think I've worn a pair all year. Yes, I do happen to have three pairs stuffed into my closet somewhere, but thanks to my wide and uneven feet (my right is slightly bigger than my left) I can't wear them without wincing in pain mere minutes later. The only one I can stand for even an hour are an open toed pair. So that's why I was so shocked when I tried on the Tory Burch flats.

The one thing I'm iffy about (well, besides the $195 price tag) is the huge logo. It's very ostentatious, and I was hoping it would be less "bling" in real life. I also tried on the patent black ones since the logo is also in black, so it blends in, but was disappointed to find that it wasn't nearly as comfortable as the leather ones. But we'll see...maybe if I can somehow find a way to save that much without spending it, I'll give it another thought.
